Our animal friends experience the process of aging as they get old — which could be anywhere from a few days to 100 years — depending on their species. As they age they might get arthritis, heart conditions, cancer or cataracts. They lose the colors of their youth and start to turn white. Their skin or outer shell may become brittle or dry. They slow down and sometimes become forgetful. And so do we humans. We're alot more alike, our animals and ourselves, than some would like to think. We can be mindful of this similarity by giving both our humans and animals the extra care and attention that they need as they grow old. |
